Carney Field, Guadalcanal

Charley came over last night but dropped no bombs.

Patrolled north 700 miles today to a point about 200 miles NW of the Jap base at Nauru Island. Saw nothing, although Moe Wittman, while only about 60 miles away from me, was chased by a Jap Mitsubishi for a number of miles. The Jap failed to catch him, and Moe, on his way home, never bothered to turn around and engage him.

Charley was over Tulagi tonight.
