Pacific Ocean

Pulled out about ten this morning. The bay was filled with grey ships, and the old Matson docks were filled with troop ships loaded to the “gunnels” — Australia-bound most likely.

Outside we passed the same wailing buoy that I passed on my way in three weeks ago — it brought back vividly all my former excitement and anticipation — with a twinge — of regret?

Five ships, including ourselves, in this convoy, plus two destroyers (one old — one new), the light cruiser Detroit, and one of the Sunnyvale blimps.
