Nouméa, New Caledonia

Spent whole afternoon with D. on beach. My fellow officers are beginning to make scurrilous remarks.

D, Mavis, Carl Kolb, Mark Woods, and myself had a picnic supper, campfire and all, out at St. Louis — a beautiful old French church and convent located in an inlet down the coast. “Piece de resistance” was a batch of 12 fresh eggs — scrambled. Beautiful night.
