August 22, 1942 (Saturday)

Four hour bombing hop this morning. Had to raise hell with several senior officers at Air Intelligence to get my bombing area ā€” the northern tip of Molokai. Practiced a cross between glide bombing and dive bombing. It proved most successful and was far more accurate than using the bombsight.

Started work on a painting this afternoon, thanks to Joe Adkinson. The scene is a PBY over the Pacific surrounded by some of the usual beautiful cloud forms. The clouds are quite difficult to paint.

This entry closes this diary. Iā€™m starting a new one for my trip down into the New Hebrides and Solomons.
