Pearl Harbor

Noje’s birthday today, but the fountain pen I want to get him hasn’t arrived yet.

Work at the squadron this morning and this afternoon went over to the Submarine Base Ship’s Service — a very snappy outfit with a very good assortment of stuff for sale. Bought some records — three albums — Sibelius’ “Tapiola,” Liszt’s “Les Preludes” and Borodin’s “Polevetsen Dances.”

Gimber asked me to drive his notorious “car,” the “Blue Goose,” while he towed it home from the Navy Yard via the ferry. Tons of trucks waiting for hours to get to the island, but only one ferryboat (of two) was running.
