“Cactus,” Guadalcanal

Back to Cactus in the afternoon. Arrived at 5 p.m. in time to hear of the squadron being ordered back to Button tomorrow for rest!

Big air raid this night. Three or four Jap planes attacked Henderson and three or four more attacked Tulagi. No damage done by their bombs, which, for the most part, dropped in the water. Three of them were caught in the searchlights; two of them for a period of two to three minutes. These two, whom the AA had a field day with, flew over in formation, which they held till lost in the clouds! More guts than brains!
