Pearl Harbor

Day off. Swam all morning. Went over to Ewa Field (pronounced “Evva”) in the afternoon. It’s the Marine Field here, but all my friends are out at Midway. Saw quite a bit of the countryside on my way out and back. A mile walk along a dusty road through a sugarcane field gave me my first opportunity to pilfer myself a bit of the cane. It tasted like the sweet bottom tips of grass that I used to chew on when I was younger. I had expected it to be sweeter, but perhaps it was green, or rather, unripe.

  1. You might want to look at the year on these posts. Shouldn’t they be 1942?
