Barbers Point NAS

Early bombing hop over Molokai on Target Area “Love 3.” Bombardier Babcock did very well. Gibson, Glanz, Moffett, and Suydam departed for the States this afternoon by Army bomber from Hickam. There they are to report to consolidated in San Diego on December 7th for a plane. I could’ve gone as Glanz’ second pilot, but refused. In the three weeks leave they’re getting, I could’ve seen the family, which I should’ve liked, but I felt the chances of getting stuck in the States didn’t warrant it. I want to get this damn war finished as soon as possible, and, at the moment, want no part of the States and its maudlin sentimentalities. Home wouldn’t mean peace and relaxation, but rather a horde of maudlin relatives and friends all demanding my presence.
