Worked on chart of Jap bases most of the day. It’s going to be a long hard fight, even with superior equipment. These little yellow bastards don’t quit for anything. They’re making another push on the Solomons, which only goes to show they don’t even know when they’re beaten. It seems to be inconceivable to them that they should lose a fight.

Noje’s last letter says he’s going to North Africa, which, to my way of thinking, is a lot better than England and Europe. Poor old Rommel is really on the run over there. Even the Russians are beginning to kick the Nazis around Stalingrad. And, of course, the poor old Italians are yelling quits more than ever.
