Barbers Point NAS

Out in a B-24 again today. The new flight set-up gives me Plane #13, with Savio and Adams as copilots.

Got rid of our last three PBY-5As today. Gave them to a Kaneohe squadron. No more patrols for a while. We now have three B-24s and seven PBY-5s down in the Solomons.

As the last PBY-5A passed by Diamond Head on the way to Kaneohe, we flew alongside and “kissed the boys goodbye.”

Held a big “Temperance League” meeting after supper tonight and elected Goodrich president in view of his remarkable performance of a few nights previous. Speeches (accompanied by loud cheers) were given by “Jeeter” Hare, “Kick-out-the-screen” Goodrich, Drum, and other notorious tosspots. It was resolved to raid the bar across the road tomorrow afternoon. Official Temperance League song adopted was “Little Brown Jug.”
