Ford Island, Pearl Harbor

Worked around squadron in the morning. Turned to on my unfinished painting, which I started before I went to the hospital. Finished it off in about five hours this afternoon. It doesn’t look bad at all. Joe Adkinson gave me a few final pointers. The scene, a “P-boat” out on patrol, emerging from bad weather into a sunlit stretch of sea. A good name would be “Sector 209 degrees” or just plain “209.” It’s the first oil painting I’ve ever made.

Liberty canceled tomorrow as we start moving.
