Kaneohe NAS

Christmas Island Kaneohe Bay — the last lap in old 31960. Off Koko Head, Pete Kooy’s  #2 engine caught fire and we all thought to ourselves, “what a lousy stroke of luck it would be to have to bail out here at the very end.” But after much smoking he got it out. A few minutes later one of Glanz’s engines quit. All got our old wrecks into Kaneohe safely though and I said goodbye to my old faithful 101-B-6, (31960) “Buccaneer.” Called Patu and she came over and picked me up. Stayed overnight at her house.
