Johnston Island

200 mile patrol today. We navigated without the aid of celestial or chart — pure dead reckoning, and hit the island on the nose. This island is certainly a pint size dot if I ever saw one. Zoomed the field twice before landing — helps relieve one’s feelings.

Rhodes and Lathrop stayed behind to fish off the reef. Lathrop was chased by a shark when he jumped out of his boat for a short dip.
