Navy Hospital, Pearl Harbor
My plane and crew shoved off this morning with Quinn as the PPC. Odell, who is leaving later, will be in command, in my place.
On the whole, I truly consider myself very lucky to have had this happen while I was still here — a stone’s throw for the best equipped Naval Hospital in the Pacific. If it had acted up a week later, while I was out on an advance base in some godforsaken spot in the Southwest Pacific, I might’ve been a dead cookie. And that’s a sad assed way to die in a war — from a ruptured appendix.
Have a damn nice kid for corpsman — named Paul Neubauer from Wisconsin.
