The war seems to be getting along fairly well without me. Had a terrific argument today with Cooper (Coop) and Oliver over the postwar world and our future relations with England. Cooper, who is a Birmingham, Alabama, lawyer, of excellent intelligence took the middle course, while Oliver and I represented the two extremes of “pro” and “anti”-British sentiment, respectively.
