Nandi, Fijis

Landed at Nandi on the island of Viti Levu and the Fijis at about 1430. The island is very green and picturesque with an apparently very pleasant climate; very much in all respects like the Hawaiian Islands. Army is quartered in both the usual tin huts and native-built thatch huts. Ran into Phillips and Luebke, and Sorenson, of the Hornet (now sunk) and also Tylutki (VP-12) out of old Pensacola days. Had a very welcome freshwater shower bath.
