Pearl Harbor

The boys in the next room conducted a good loud party last night from 8 until 1 a.m. They got off some pretty good singing and harmony, but the intervening periods of shouting and howling were certainly not conducive to sleep. Finally got to sleep about 1 a.m. only to be awakened at 4 by someone getting a call telephone from home – the connection wasn’t very good so he tried to make up for it by shouting. I doubt if his family heard him, but, by God, all of us sure did. Got up bright-eyed and fresh as a daisy at 4:55 a.m. for the days flight.

Another hop to the Southwest – no Japs, no nothing.

Today is Mother’s Day and I haven’t had a chance to get into town for the last few days to send a wire or phone. Will have to let it go at a letter. Hope she doesn’t feel hurt. The damn thing is too commercialized anyway though.

Another total blackout. This lack of electricity is getting damned annoying.
