Pearl Harbor

Another 12 1/2 hour hop to the south today. I did the navigating. Saw nothing. The Japs will never win the war this way! Am flying with Ensigns Rothenburg, Coker, and Elliot — the last two being ex-NAPs recently made ensigns. We have 65 officers in the squadron, and 11 planes (PBY-5As). The “5A” is an excellent plane for changing a squadron over from flying boats to land bombers. I hope that is what they are doing to us. We all want to B-24s.

Finished a small collection of Dorothy Parker’s poetry. That written during the “mad twenties” is VERY expressive of the period.
