Charley Dwight, who is been assigned to the station ship Sacramento (Palmyra Is.) dropped around to the hotel for a last visit before leaving.

Had Marion Robinson down for most of the day. We’ve very successfully buried the hatchet and entered upon a more platonic friendship. Won that round, anyway.

News has come out that the U.S. troops have landed in North Africa and that already Algiers has surrendered. The flood has begun to ebb!
