Nouméa, New Caledonia

Saw D. at noon and she mentioned having come from a medal presentation ceremony involving the crew of the B-17 marooned on an island NE of Buka for 55 days after raid on Nauru — the same crew that was located by my own squadron! We found them (Glanz, I believe), we took the PBY pilot up to look over the area, and finally, we escorted the PBY with two PB4Ys for protection while he made the rescue.

An excellent movie this evening — “King’s Row.”
