Kaneohe NAS

Flew our three oldest planes over to Kaneohe this morning. Flew formation on Fuzzy all the way over. The field here is adequate, but leaves no margin for error, so I doubt we’ll do much practice landings.

“Air wing Two,” as the former Patwing is now called, reflects “Snafu.” The HQ squadron doesn’t seem to harbor any special love for us. This is the first time I’ve ever been over here, despite being out here for eight months. Quite a nice station, although rather crowded, as is everything else. An especially fine officers club is located opposite the BOQ. The liquor ration here is 3 quarts per week. Pearl Harbor is two. Ford Island is one and Barbers Point is one. Thus it is possible for naval officer to get seven quarts a week, while most civilians can’t even get a quart a month, which, to my mind, is damned unfair.
