Barbers Point NAS

This war is sure hard at the moment. The “Battle of Waikiki” is the toughest engagement of all. We ought to give out campaign metals for it. Something in the form of a small bottle.

Back to the squadron In the Waipahu-Ewa bus in time for 1030 hop. Bombing, 20,000 ft. over Lanai. Very mediocre. No turbo on #4 engine.

Returned very hungry in mid-afternoon. Wandered down to squadron beach picnic in search of food, and myself, and crew were tossed in a tub of ice water by drunken celebrants. Anything to keep the hoi polloi happy.

I’m going to Kaneohe tomorrow along with Fisler and Fleming to train pilots in B-24s. Hope to be back in a week.
